Advanced exchange discount carry forward
Carrying Forward Exchange Discounts
When using advanced exchanges, customers may wish to exchange an item which was originally purchased using a discount.
By default, advanced exchanges do not carry this discount forward to the replacement item. However, this can be enabled in ReturnZap settings:
Note: To enable exchange discount carry forward, you must have advanced exchanges enabled and be on the ReturnZap Plus tier or higher. Carry forward logic can be configured in ReturnZap Settings > Policies > Exchanges > Advanced Exchanges.
No Discount Carry Forward
When discount carry forward is disabled, the customer will be asked to pay the difference on an advanced exchange based on the current price of the replacement product.
Example Case
Customer originally purchases an item with a price iof $100, with a 10% discount applied. The customer pays $90 and receives a $10 discount.
The customer wishses to exchange the item for a different item, which costs $150:

Fixed Discount Amount
When carrying discounts forward on a fixed basis, ReturnZap will take the total value of the discount on the original item and apply it to the replacement product.
Example case
Customer originally purchases an item with a price iof $100, with a 10% discount applied. The customer pays $90 and receives a $10 discount.
The customer wishes to exchange the item for a different item, which costs $150:

Percentage Discount
When carrying discounts forward on a percentage basis, ReturnZap will take the value of the discount as a percentage of the original item and apply it to the replacement product.
Example case
Customer originally purchases an item with a price iof $100, with a 10% discount applied. The customer pays $90 and receives a $10 discount.
The customer wishes to exchange the item for a different item, which costs $150:
