Adding the ReturnZap portal to Shopify customer accounts
How it works
ReturnZap can embed into the Shopify New Customer Accounts page to allow customers to initiate a return directly from their Orders page.
An option to return will also display on the Order Status page:
Customers will be taken directly to the ReturnZap returns portal with order information populated once they click to start a Return.
Note: The embed option does not work with Shopify legacy customer accounts. You must be using customer accounts (formerly called "new" customer accounts) in order to use this functionality.
Setting it up
Embedding ReturnZap into Shopify customer accounts is easy to do. It can be done from within your theme customizer option in the Shopify admin.
Step 1: From the Shopify admin, navigate to Online Store > Themes and select the Customize button for our active theme.
Step 2: From the theme editor page, select Checkout and Customer Accounts from the page selection drop down at the top
Step 3: Select Orders from the dropdown at the top
Step 4: From the left hand navigation, select the Apps menu by clicking on the icon, find ReturnZap Action in the list and click the (+), then select Add action to Orders and Order status
Step 5: Confirm placement and save the page. Configuration is now complete!
Additional considerations
Disabling Shopify self-serve returns
ReturnZap recommends that you disable the option for Shopify self-serve returns in Shopify Settings > Customer Accounts > Self-Serve Returns.
If this option is left enabled, customers will see two options to initiate a return from their account page, leading to a confusing experience.
Custom app proxy URLS
By default, the customer accounts extension will direct users to a URL ending in /a/returnzap.
If you have customized the URL where your returns portal is hosted through the use of the Shopify app proxy please contact ReturnZap customer support for assistance.
