Controlling access with users and permissions

About User Permissions

User permissions require the ReturnZap Premium plan tier or higher

User permissions in ReturnZap allow you to limit what specific users can do within the platform. They allow you to restrict sensitive actions when managing a large team.

For example, front line customer service agents may have limited permissions to only view and process returns. Company management or executives may retain permissions to modify app settings and manage user access levels.

Users access ReturnZap directly via the Shopify backend. The user account used to access ReturnZap is the same one used to access Shopify. ReturnZap automatically syncs each user's name and email address.

Enabling user permissions.

User permissions can be enabled from ReturnZap Settings > Users and Permissions.

If permissions are disabled (the setting is turned off) then all users will have acess to all actions in ReturnZap.

When user permissions are turned on, you are able to define user-level access to specific actions. ReturnZap will sync staff accounts and will allow you to configure and modify access one by one.

Syncing staff and setting permissions

Users will be synced the first time they log in to ReturnZap. When user permissions are enabled, the default permission for all users is View Returns.

Other permissions must be added manually for each new user on your account.

Description of permissions

Admin

Granting admin permissions will automatically select all permissions. Be careful when granting admin permissions, as it includes the ability to modify users and all shop settings.

Manage Users

Allows the user to access the "Users and permissions" page and manage user access

Modify Settings

Allows access to the ReturnZap settings page with permission to change settings.

Process Returns

Allows for processing returns. Includes changing return stage, restocking, issuing refunds, processing store credit, completing exchanges.

View Returns

This is the baseline access level for all users. It can't be removed. It allows the user to view the analytics dashboard, the returns list, and individual return details.

Additional Detail

By default, the user account which installed ReturnZap will retain all permissions levels. This level of access cannot be removed.

Users may not edit their own permissions via the User Permissions page.
