Changing the ReturnZap Portal URL

Using a Custom Return Portal URL with Shopify App Proxy

When using the Standalone ReturnZap Portal, your ReturnZap return portal is accessible at a URL ending in /a/returnzap — for example, yourstore.com/a/returnzap.

Shopify's App Proxy feature allows you to change this to a custom path that better fits your brand, such as yourstore.com/pages/returns or yourstore.com/a/returns.

Note: The ReturnZap portal can also be embedded into any custom page in your Shopify store. Learn more here:

Why Use a Custom URL?

A custom return portal URL can help reinforce your brand experience by replacing the default ReturnZap path with something that feels native to your store. This is especially useful if you're linking to your return portal from your navigation, footer, or customer emails and want the URL to reflect your own branding rather than a third-party app name.

How to Access the App Proxy URL Setting

To find your App Proxy URL in Shopify:

  1. Open ReturnZap.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋯) in the top right corner of the ReturnZap app.
  3. Select Manage App from the dropdown

This will take you to the App Proxy settings within your Shopify admin, where you can view and configure the URL path used to access your return portal.

From there, find the section for App Proxy and click Customize URL:

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Changes to your App Proxy URL will affect any existing links pointing to your return portal, so be sure to update any references in your navigation, footer, or marketing emails after making a change.
  • The URL must follow Shopify's App Proxy path format. Shopify restricts proxy URLs to a limited set of allowed prefixes (such as /a/, /apps/, /tools/, or /community/), so fully arbitrary paths may not be available.
  • If you're unsure which path to use, /a/returns is a clean, commonly used option.
  • Some internal links within ReturnZap assume the default /a/returnzap path, including the link used to embed ReturnZap into Shopify customer accounts. If you've updated your App Proxy URL, please contact ReturnZap support to ensure these internal links are updated as well.
